For books, I would suggest "Think Outside the Inbox: The B2B Marketing Automation Guide" (http://amzn.to/18cV1Ac). As Samuel pointed out, you may be just as well off reading some online resources. Here are two places to look:   Marketing Automation Best Practices (link: http://bit.ly/OCBYqt)   Marketing Automation Best Practices 2013 (Optify Study) (link: http://bit.ly/YIhxbQ)

Very recently I finished reading this book http://www.revenuedisruption.com/ by Phil Fernandez. Going by its title, this book goes beyond the traditional B2B marketing and sales strategies. Phil explains why it is important to grab an opportunity and make the maximum ROI out of it. The market is evolving steadily and needs of customers are changing at a high speed. If marketers are not adept with the minute functional changes happening around them, it will be a hard job to keep up with the ever changing customer requirements. The sales and marketing funnel will just get wider than getting narrower. Phil discusses that a slight change can affect the whole strategy. The revenue battle is not an easy one. If you want to achieve the maximum ROI from your sales and marketing strategies, you got to be ambitious about your achievements. Read this book to get a clear overview of how to pave your way to generating better revenues for your business. Another book that is worth reading is http://www.amazon.in/Think-Outside-Inbox-Marketing-Automation/dp/0615361811 by David Cummings and Adam Blitzer. Starting with customers' behaviour indexing to automating marketing process, this book is a complete solution when it comes to modern automated marketing. If you are looking to improve your sales pipeline, this book can be of great help. Some other books you can read are http://www.amazon.com/Manufacturing-Demand-David-Lewis/dp/1935547372/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1367438648&sr=1-1&keywords=manufacturing+demand by David Lewis, http://www.amazon.com/Get-Content-Customers-Prospects-Marketing/dp/0071625747/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1367438693&sr=1-1&keywords=get+content+get+customers  by Joe Pulizzi. You can also read some awesome blogs like http://www.optify.net/digital-marketing-blog/ by Optify, and http://chiefmartec.com/ by Scott Brinker.

I agree with the comments about following blogs. That said Inbound Marketing by Brian Halligan is a good resource even though they are Hub Spot. The Hub Spot blog is worth following. I have been doing some research. Marketing Automation grew out of a perceived gap in Oracle, Salesforce CRM solutions. You'll also discover separate email marketing automation resources. It's important to understand the difference between these. Essentially Marketing Automation is most effective in the lead generation, lead nurturing space. The key to success is integrating with your other marketing assets. In terms of books there is Marketing Automation for Dummies. I find these books basic but helpful. There are some cost effective solutions available. Good luck.

Hi! The best you can do is to read blogs - marketing automation field changes so quickly that any book you can find will be past-dated in a month. What I can recomend is SALESmanago blog. They are a marketing automation company from Poland and they give some really nice advice on automation and other marketing issues. A really good read, actually. Have a look: http://blog.salesmanago.com Cheers!

I would rather look for interesting blogs with valuable content on marketing automation. It's such a dynamic field that a blog will be more up to date than a book.
