What are some good examples of Western artists covering music originally by Japanese artists?
-
I know Japanese pop music is famous for being inspired by Western music (although with their twist), but I don't know of any examples where the reverse has happened.

Answer:
The most famous one of course is Ue o Muite ArukÅ" (ä¸ãåãã¦æ©ãã)? or better known as Sukiyaki which hit the Billboard 100 in 1963 in the US. According to Wikipedia, well-known English-language cover versions with altogether different lyrics include "My First Lonely Night" by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewel_Akens in 1966 and "Sukiyaki" by both http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Taste_of_Honey_(band) in 1980 and by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4_P.M. in 1994.
