How would I create my own brand name?

When building an audience in different subjects, is it more effective to create different online identities for each subject so that the 'brand' of each is clear or to use my real name for all to maximize my total audience and exposure?

  • For example, if I am working toward building an audience/following/reputation in the subjects of mountain climbing and supply chain efficiency, should I create a different online persona for one or both of them?  I'm referring to creating another name/twitter handle/quora username so that people who follow me for mountain climbing don't think less of me/aren't thrown off by info streaming in from me on supply chain efficiency.

    Twitter: Yes. I have an account for each of my projects and retweet them from my personal account when appropriate. Facebook Pages: I use them same as Twitter. Quora, LinkedIn, Facebook and other "Real Name" networks: No, use your real name. On Quora, I can mute your supply chain answers and enjoy your mountain climbing answers, so don't be concerned about that.

I would save your athletic accomplishments to first and last name, and start a "Supply Chain Solutions/Consulting" company. To maximize your total audience and exposure, stay within the goal of the target audience. Last and mostly, remember that branding is far less important if your product/service speaks for itself.
