  • For an ecommerce site what is the best way to identify credit card type (as in Visa. MC, Discover or Amex) based on the specified card number? The end goal is - based on user specified card number, automatically identify which card type it is on the merchant site itself. 1. Generally provide a dropdown with the card type options. But this is not great experience and will be an additional UX element. 2. BIN range based checks - if this is the way to go which BIN db is the best one to buy and use. Must be a very authoritative one. This will have challenges like having it to get updated on a regular basis to reflect latest changes. 3. Any other option?
