Does any one know....?

Is it good to know one's limits?

  • Should one know one's limits? On one hand, knowing one's limits prevents one from attempting tasks at which one would fail. On the other hand, not knowing one's limits could help one raise one's limits. Being unconfined by one's self-imposed mental constraints could lead to immense personal growth. Steve Jobs was always brutal to his employees and used his reality distortion field to make people do things that they previously could not do. A lot of his employees were bitter, but they all said they were better for it. So, which one is it?

  • Answer:

Yes, you cannot improve if you don't know them. Trying something new knowing you can fail is bravery. Trying the same new thing without knowing you can fail is stupidity. Edited-

We don't know our limits until we reach our limits. When  we are in the midst and unable to cope, we become stubborn. The best action is to stop at this point, but to handle a change of plans requires a functioning brain. To avoid dysfunction , write a 'living will' before hand. The brain can just follow the detailed action plan of how to fail. Banks should do this...

I guess it would be better not to gauge one's limits, as it makes us question certain difficult tasks which we could have completed if pushed ourselves a little more.
