How to show images on RDLC report?

How come many websites don't face any copyright infringement issues because of the images they use?

  • Sometimes I come across a random company's website which shows some images to describe their products, where the images are clearly not their own. This happens in case of websites of some Educational Institutions too, where they show some students doing some experiments in the lab, and clearly the students are not from their college suggesting that they borrowed the image from somewhere. Does anyone care about the copyright infringement that's taking place in all these websites? If yes, how can all these websites go unnoticed? Additionally, where can a person report such copyright infringement if they find such images on some website?

  • Answer:

Most of what you're seeing is probably stock photography, which is licensed by the school or institution for use on their website.  Because they license these photos, they are able to use them without violating copyright. If, however, some organization is just randomly selecting photos off of Flickr (for example), then they would likely be in violation of copyright. This answer is not a substitute for professional legal advice....

The people that care and can take action, are the owners of the images. To report an image, we first need to be the owner of the image. Generally there is a DMCA link or in the terms of service or terms of use there is a link to a DMCA complaint form.

Research shows that - like yourself - most people are smart enough instantly to recognise 'fake' shots like these and utterly ignore them. For some reason the people who plaster up these crappy website designs do not seem to recognise this. It is a very good argument for hiring a professional photographer to do a proper, personalised shoot for you.
