How do I change from Aerospace BTech to Computer Science MS?
-
Currently I am doing Aerospace B.Tech in one of IITs and I wanted to do MS in Computer Science (may be U.S.A) . I like computer science. How can I change my major? Is it appreciable? How should I proceed?
-
Answer:
Changing your major to Computer Science for your masters isn't really hard and it is definitely not uncommon. As long as you have a solid engineering background it doesn't really matter what your undergrad area is for your masters. As long as you sufficiently explain your interests in Computer Science and/or if you have some projects to showcase your knowledge in Computer Science, you should be fine (provided you have decent grades, good recommendations etc). Most universities will not have a problem with this and you'll be asked to take a couple more extra courses than your CS peers as prerequisites before starting with your masters in CS.
