What should I do to score a good rank in Gate electronics and communication?

I haven't started preparation for gate 2014 that much but now I have decided to take gate 2015 seriously and ready to give one year completely for the preparation of Gate 2015 as well as for PSUs. I want your valuable suggestion, motivation and also books recommendation so that I can do well in Gate 2015 and get a interview call from PSUs. What should be my approach to achieve my target? Please guide me.. My primary aim is PSUs.. if I don't get any of them then I will do M.Tech in VLSI.. I'm studying B. tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. I'm in 7th semester.
