Is there a way to make my speaking voice more appealing?

Is there a way to organize a strike and make your voice heard without inconveniencing everyone else?

  • I work at the free zone in Cairo which houses a number of factories and companies. Last week the workers of one company organized a strike closing the gates in an out of the free zone, so people could not take their cars out for almost two days. I understand that organizing a strike is a way to make your voice heard and raises awareness to your problems. And like the free zone example, people with stuck cars from all companies were trying to mediate between the workers and their company and may have helped improve their situation. But on the other hand, some people were pretty pissed off. Some people needed their cars for various reasons. There is also a chance this may have caused problems for some. How do you make your voice heard and raise awareness to your issues without causing inconvenience to others who have nothing to do with it. Or is it necessary to make such a standoff to get the sympathy of people and the media? How would you do it? And would you sympathize with the workers or not?

  • Answer:

One of the purposes of strike is to cause inconvenience to others (target group can vary, from local population to ruling government). Hence, striking without inconveniencing others will be self-defeating. It will not serve any purpose as most probably the group strikers are opposing will not take the message seriously.
