What are some of philanthropic UNICEF activities?

Besides meetings and social media activities, what are some frivolous activities which an employer has asked or required you to do?

  • I find it hard to take corporate HR folks seriously when they say, "Prove your value," while wasting paid employee time on internal meetings and social media activities. The following Gospel passage is apropos, "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brotherĂ¢€™s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" - Matthew 7:5, NIV So which wastes of time has your current or former employer paid you to do? If "paper pushing," then what specifically about verifying and filing was so counterproductive? I'd say "overseeing" or "oversight" would rank highly unless part of a documented quality assurance & control program.

  • Answer:

A company which I once worked sponsored and or hosted a wide variety of events for the benefit or enjoyment of it's long time or/ Major customers. Most of the time the events were scheduled and took place during normal business days/office hours. Which wouldn't have been an issue had the company refrained from using employee volunteers during normal business hours to work at the events, for some it was mandatory to be present and work at the events, leaving the rest of the team at the offices and plants short handed to run the business as normal without any backup. All the while the co workers whom volunteered enjoyed being paid for a "play day" of fishing, shooting skeet, or whatever event taking place.
