What is the optimal duration for proactive live chat engagement of a website visitor?

For any companies using live chat on your website, are you using a proactive chat capabilty to start a live chat conversation after some duration when a visitor is on a page? What have you found to be the ideal time before popping open the chat window? We use SnapEngage, which defaults to 15 seconds and I have experimented with the time as fast as 12 seconds, and longer than 15 seconds. Any thoughts on what works the best for you, or what you prefer as a visitor on a site with live chat?

Tried 5 seconds now. Seems to work ok so far but I think it may be too fast.
