How to make sure my adsense is working properly?

What are good ways to make benefits from a blog?

  • I am working on a website which sells eBooks related softwares, and we've run a blog for about 1 year. And why we open a blog? Because sometimes we want to write something, and it doesn't suit our main site, so we open a blog on blogspot. Now it attracts 600-800 visitors per day, and over 80% are from organic search, we write 2-3 posts per week. No link-building, no promotion, no campaigns, etc. Until now, we haven't made any benefit from this blog, just write for it. It's a part of fun in our daily works. In next season, I want to use this blog to make some benefits. Besides Adsense and sell ads, is there any other way? How can I make the blog help main site sell more softwares?

  • Answer:

It's totally awesome that you do it for fun. That's why I blog, too. (Not to imply that I'm an authority on this or anything, but I'm pretty passionate about this.) People who blog with an immediate focus on monetization are, to me, a turn-off. I don't read blogs to be sold to, I read blogs to be informed, to be entertained, to read something interesting. I think most readers tolerate ads to some degree because they (we) understand that the blogger(s) need to make money somehow. Directly selling your software might be a bit of a leap, though. Keep creating great content. What you might not realize is that simply having this blog should have increased your sales already. At the very least, it's going to increase the number of people looking at your brand, which is good. At least some people are going to be clicking through the link to check out your software, if only out of curiosity. So you'll want to keep building on that. Apart from that... you can mention your product from time to time. But don't sell it to them in the blogpost itself. Talk about why you do it, why it's good, what's the purpose it serves, why you find it awesome. What you want to do is to use the blog to build relationships with people and to establish yourself as an authority in the field that you're in, so that people looking for it are more likely to buy from you, and people who're not sure if they're looking or not will be convinced. If you haven't already, you should set up a newsletter for email signups, and write to them, too. Play a long game- build the relationships, keep tinkering with and improving on the product, and the sales will happen.
