How to copy and paste and email?

How do I prevent Gmail from making text that I copy and paste from the previous email invisible in the next thread message?

  • For example, if I have the words "Once upon a time I wrote an email" in the first message of a thread, and copy and paste it in the next message, Gmail will purple it out and exclude it from the visible part of the email. Why would you do that? And, how do I get rid of this feature?

  • Answer:

You can't! That is part of the design. It is part of the Microsoft way of thinking, i.e., top posting as opposed to inline posting.

This is an important question and it deserves some attention from Google & Gmail team. When you cut and paste as part of an email thread, as prompt to someone to answer the question again, or to look once more at the information being shared, it makes no sense for that text to get purpled-out & hidden. And worst of all (for UX) is the way that we don't know until it is sent that this email is cut off at the cut-paste point.
