Applying for cs PhD in theory with low GRE marks at premier institutes
-
Hi, I got 148 in verbal and 167 in math in revised GRE. I did my masters from a reputed college in India and just joined a job. I wish to apply to princeton, berkeley etc in fall 2013. I have interest in algorithms and theory and want to do PhD in same. What kind of gre scores can be considered in these colleges? My research background and other things are ok. Any suggestions or experiences are appreciated that could help me in this regard.

Answer:
MIT CS PhD program application doesn't ask for GRE. They have probably understood anyone could top it with proper training or cheating. Good decision! (More info on GRE usefulness here: http://academia.stackexchange.com/q/11812/452)

For reference, I received similar scores and got into Princeton. GRE scores really don't matter as much as letters of recommendation and your personal statement.
