I know the Facebook URL of a person and I can put in the URL and see the person's profile. But if I search for the person's name, it doesn't come up in Facebook search results ( I know I'm not blocked by this person). How is this possible?

I can't find any way to make it so my profile doesn't come up in Facebook Search. I have to continually deactivate my account because I have a restraining order against my ex-husband (he was very violent). I want to be able to be on Facebook and not have him continually find me : ( Can some smart person PLEASE help me?

Answer:
They have very strong privacy settings, where they've asked for themselves to be completely unsearchable. It's not targeted at you specifically, they're just worried about internet privacy.

A2A 1. Searching for the person name on FB let's the privacy settings set for the profile work. If the peeson has ser his profile as not searchable for outsiders, the Facebook search abides to it. 2. However, Facebook is just a website. Technically almost every webpage you view has a unique URL assigned to it (or conventionally constructed). When you know the URL of a person's profile it is ditto to knowing a person's home address. There is no way the person can stop you from reaching his/her house.

The best I can recommend is to use your maiden name first and then your first name last. That way your friends might recognize you when you try to friend them. Between search and security settings this may be enough. Be real careful of any friend requests you do get. Make sure any friends you wish to friend isn't one of your exe's friends also. If you have any doubt wait until your sure it's safe. Make sure your friends all know not to give this away. Use a gmail email address (or http://gmx.com). Don't upload any photos with you in them. Those could be copied and then shared. Do you know what a burn phone is? Grab a Tracfone. Buy just a few minutes and subscribe to Tracfone's service protection program where they bill you six bucks and change to renew your month to month service. Give that number out on Facebook if you want. Don't answer it! Double blind that by answering with a Google phone number instead. Lock down your profile security. Create a profile image like I did. Just draw something ridiculous...... Don't give out a lot of info in your profile. School, location and work are great ways to find someone. Same with interests and likes. Stay away from joining groups, liking pages, and joining events that might catch his attention. He ain't dumb. Your maiden name and first name backwards would ring familiar to him if he saw it in print. Be real careful of any friend requests you do get. You have a restraining order... use it if he tries to contact you by passing the contact to the powers that be and your lawyer.
