How can unique visitors be higher than visitors in a Google Analytics custom report?
-
The custom report metrics are visitors and unique visitors and the dimension is date.
-
Answer:
You have an advanced segment on this report. When you segment reports you are getting a yellow box under the date saying "This report is based on X visits. (Y% of visits)." This is a message from Google Analytics that it is sampling your visits because of the query you are running. The sampling methods of GA leave something to be desired. If you remove the advanced segment you'll get numbers that make sense, though you won't get the fine-grained numbers you seem to be looking for. What question are you trying to answer?
