Google Hangouts : When someone sends me a Gchat and I'm offline, I get an email message. Why can't I see that email when I check my email on my iPhone?

I can only see the offline chat message when I log into Gmail on a computer, but when I check my email on my phone, I can't see them.
Answer:

It's because it goes under the chats label. If you choose to sync the chats label on your iphone, you should be able to see offline chats there..

I know this is ages old, but anyone know why those chats no longer even show up as emails???? These days they just disappear into chat world for me never to see.
