How well does the 2012 MacBook Air handle large iPhoto libraries?
-
I'm hoping to get one within six months but am worried it'll drag heavily on my 50g+ iPhoto library.

Answer:
It runs really fast with the latest SSD drive on the new 2012 MacBook Air. But the secret isn't the new Air; it's simply the new SSD drive; in general, it handles files much faster. iPhoto is nothing more than a collection of files, especially if you have a lot of large raw photo sizes. What do you currently have now? It's possible that simply switching your hard drive to an SSD drive will significantly improve performance, instead of going all out and buying a new laptop. But that is all dependent upon how old your laptop is too--if you just bought a laptop within the last 2-3 years, I would just simply upgrade to SSD.
