How to google street view houses?

Are panoramas uploaded to Google available via the Street View APIs?

  • Google recently launched "Views" (https://www.google.com/maps/views/home?gl=us&hl=en-us), which lets you upload panorama images taken e.g. with a recent Android device and have these panoramas made available through the official Google Maps webpage.  From a developer's perspective tapping into Street View APIs, are these panorama's treated like regular Street View imagery, i.e. if you query for Street View imagery near the coordinate of a panorama you've taken, might Google return your panorama's imagery as a result?  Or, are uploaded panorama's treated as separate from regular Street View imagery and not returned via the Street View APIs?  Any references/examples to back up an answer would be appreciated.

  • Answer:

At this time, Streetview will only return one panorama for any given site, not allow selection of an alternate user-made panorama. This allows Google to maintain the anonymizing of imagery in streetview, blurring faces and license plates. And to control the quality of content, of course, by producing it themselves.
