  High resolution background images (http://about.me, etc) truly manageable typography (albeit still through replacement) has brought type further into the limelight Grid Theory (and other wonders from print design - I'm thinking infographic revolution too) were certainly quite active before the year started, but I feel like they've really cemented themselves as a mainstay in 2010. Mobile. Interactivity / Animation have gotten a lot of credit this year, largely thanks to JavaScript and the CSS3 & HTML5 techniques possible with a modern browser set.  That being said I think this is the perfect segway to... Graceful Degradation / Progressive Enhancement was something that was starting to fade with the end of the IE6 era but has (as it should) come back with a vengeance.  As the latest browsers are capable of running circles around versions only a few years old w/ respect to JavaScript performance, HTML5 and advanced CSS3 selectors, the notion that websites need to be fully capable of displaying basic, well laid-out content in a meaningful way for users of any number of browsers and devices is more important than ever.  This, as always, needs a sizable amount of attention at the design level.
