How do I remove a site from IIS7 using JavaScript?

When weighing leaving broken functionality on your site until it can be rebuilt vs. using dev time to remove the feature all together, what factors should I consider?

  • The feature is on member profiles so it does not impact conversions, just UX. We will be rebuilding the entire profile structure early next year. Are there any studies that speak the these two different user experiences?

  • Answer:

I generally think you shouldn't have obviously broken things on your site. Having a dev remove it, even from just the UI, is the right way to go IMO.

The answer is so heavily dependent on your traction and traffic. First, immediately track metrics on how many people are hitting the broken feature. I've been amazed in the past by how few people actually experienced broken features as a % of the total user population. This should be trivial if you have a good analytics framework established. That should give you a more tangible sense of the costs associated with leaving the feature broken vs the extra cost of a removing it and rebuilding it.
