Growth Hacking: Should I offer an affiliate program?

  • I built a small tool (http://AppCodes.com), and we've got a decent amount of traffic. Form time to time a blogger approaches us asking for affiliate program. So far I've declined, for the following reasons: - If we pay one blogger, we'd need to pay them all - We don't have the resources to make sure the quality of the source websites is all right On the other hand, I'm wondering whether perhaps I'm passing up on some good opportunities. Any suggestions?

    Because the way affiliate marketing traditionally is bought and sold, entrepreneurs/marketers look down upon it. Affiliate Marketing offers three things: Free Traffic & Branding: You get traffic and branding (visibility) even when people are not buying or you not paying to market. Pay when you sell: Its like hiring an army of sales agent who get paid only when your product gets sold. Outsource your sales! Testimonials + WOM: Many bloggers would use your product before they market it to their audience. And use their testimonials to sell. Other bloggers down the line would read them and you can build a viral co-inefficient. Both about the product, and the affiliate program Try! If you are worried about where your offers are placed, you can use 3rd party affiliate programs/platform providers which tell you that only whitelisted (pre-approved by you) sites would be allowed to carry your product/service. You can use banners, text links etc with tags to identify the origin, and during reconciliation if you feel a deceptive site has been used, do not pay.
