Advice on how I can get a job?

Career Advice: I'm 26 and live in the U.S.. How can I get a job with the BBC in the U.K.?

  • I have extensive Internship experience, and no personal obligations and would like to add adventure to my life by living abroad. I've always loved BBC programming and it seems like a prime company to target. How can I get my C.V. noticed and read?

  • Answer:

There are people from the US office who have moved over to the UK after establishing themselves within the company.  Job postings for the U.S. can be found here: http://www.bbcamerica.com/jobs/ And you can find UK jobs here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/careers/home As with applying for any job, it's always best if you can demonstrate experience and skill that is relevant to the position for which you are applying, and, of course, networking.

The BBC is a very big Corporation and many of it's shows are run by other production companies. Whether or not you would be appropriate for them depends on you skill set which you have not stated. As far as I know due to budget cuts they mostly hire interns and people already highly skilled at their professions and since internships are mostly unpaid I'm not sure you would get a VISA for that.
