What is eye tracking technology?

Are there any eye-tracking usability cases with clear results?

  • We use eye-tracker while conducting usability studies, but usually results of eye-tracker studies are not  impressive. We can use heatmaps for demonstrating it for managers, but it quaite useless for design itself. :( So, where can I find some cases, in which eye-tracking findings have had a major impact on the design? I need some examples, how people change the design, based on eye-tracking data.
