How to edit a spreadsheet with Coldfusion?

When "Allow changes by more than one user at the same time" is checked on my Excel spreadsheet, why can't we edit images?

  • We need to share the book this way for collaboration, but we use little images to make notes, and for some reason we cannot remove or move them when this sharing feature is activated. Is there a way we can share the book this way and edit the images?

  • Answer:

You cannot edit images in a shared Excel book. I am not sure if one should use a shared workbook given that it has so many restrictions even on the most basic features (See: Features a shared workbook doesn't support at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/use-a-shared-workbook-to-collaborate-HA102748977.aspx#_Toc313346947) and also has reliability issues. Was about to recommend that you use comments (Shift+F2) to take notes (in text format of course), as they appear with the name of the comment-adder and are easy to track but looks like even comments cannot be removed in a shared workbook. As a workaround, you may have a separate sheet (say "Notes") in the shared workbook only for taking text notes. You may have big blocks of cells merged together (with different colors) dedicated as space to take notes for each separate user. A shared workbook doesn't allow merging cells so you will have to do the merging-cells bit before you turn the sharing feature on.
