What is the maximum line capacitance for RS-232 communication?
-
Serial communication is one of the most useful communication protocol available today for data acquisition and data transmission to remote locations. But for long-distance communication, care should be taken to select proper data rate which is also known as baud rate. Because the performance of RS-232 deteriorates when we increase cable length at higher data rate due to line capacitance. So the maximum acceptable line capacitance must be taken care of.
-
Answer:
As per latest RS232 protocol documents, maximum line capacitance should not be greater than 2500 pF.
