How much cost in fuel to run 8 seater black cab per mile?

gets about 15 mpg ie about 4 miles per litre. A litre costs arounf £1.30. This gives fuel cost of about 33 p per mile. Added to this is maintenance, taxi licence, insurance, depreciatio never mind the wages of the driver.

Never mix business and friendship. If you are paying less than the regular fare but more than just fuel costs you are still getting a good deal; if you can't afford what he charges catch a bus or buy a bike. Remember the old adage: "A friend in need is a pain in the a***"

Hi this is this guys living we are talking about here.he has to pay himself for the time he drives from one place to another and back again if he can't pick up another fare. plus pay for the car and it's loss over time it's maintenance as well as he could miss a more valueable fare from some tourist which he could pick up from an expensive hotel who would tip better.

If he's charging only the fuel cost then consider : I gallon of diesel; = £1:35 per litre x 4.54609 litres per gallon = 1:35 x 4.54609 = £6.1372215 per gallon. Average mpg of black cab varies BUT assume 25 mpg [My FX4 London cab gave 30 mph in 1980 but allow for more economic engine v heavier vehicle] gives £6.1372215 / 25 = £0.24548888 per mile OR 25p per mile. As Jan409 notes £2:00 per mile probably covers all his other expenses such as road tax; car insurance; public liability insurance; maintenance and licensing costs but the fuel cost - which is what you state he charges - is only around 25p per mile.

'Fuel Cost' ? No way. That is the equivalent to about 3mpg. A loaded 40 ton truck will do more than that. His overall running costs including fuel, tax, insurance, depreciation etc could work out at two quid a mile, but not Fuel cost alone.
