Why isnt the internet on my laptop working?

  The things that cause what you are experiencing are usually malware, whether a virus or a browser hijacker/adware, possibly a problem with your ISPs DNS servers, and maybe a couple of other things I might recall in a moment. While I cogitate, perform a full scan of your computer with at least one reputable AV product (which does not include Microsoft Security Essentials) preferably two. Ideally, in addition to your primary AV product responsible for moment to moment, real-time protection, you should also have Malwarebytes Free to use as an adjunct/on-demand scanner. Ideally you should run a full scan with it once a week. Just kick it off and go to bed. Browser Hijackers: Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Look down both the application titles column and the publishers column for anything labeled Conduit. Remove any you find. Next you need to configure your internet connection settings, both the ones you can access right there in control panel and those that are a part of FireFox or Chrome if you are using either of them. You are looking for information about the connection and then it is usually advanced or something like that. In Internet Options I believe it is "Lan Settings" on the communications tab. On the page that comes up now, where it says Proxy, remove anything there. Save and close your internet connection settings in each browser and restart one of them and try to connect. If that doesn't work I suggest you download Adaware Free and/or Spybot Search & Destroy Free and have them scan your system for adware/spyware.
