  • Answer:

A chromatic tuner will show whatever note the tuner is hearing. If the tuner said F that means it was too high in pitch and you need to go back down to E . Many tuners will only show the string names and if you are flat or sharp. turn the string to go lower and when it turns green again it should read E Try using an online tone generator tuner http://all-guitar-chords.com/tuner.php to tune the guitar by matching the sounds. That should get you close enough to be able to use the tuner after that. http://www.fretnotguitarrepair.com/repair/acoustic-guitar/string-changing.php this shows you how to wrap the strings on the posts and works for electric guitar as well. ALL guitarists need to know how to do this. I was able to do it at 9 yrs old....I think you should be able to figure it out!

Wait until your uncle comes back. Leave the guitar alone. Being able to tune a guitar is important but wait until you start learning to play.

Your guitar should have come with instructions on how to use the tuner. In any case you're probably better off using a clip-on tuner like the Snark SN-5. The order of the strings, from high to low (i.e., from thinnest string to thickest string) is E - B - G - D - A - E. Your best bet is to go to an online tuner like this one: http://www.gieson.com/Library/projects/utilities/tuner/ ...and try to match each string to its proper tone on the screen.

Usually, if you are trying to tune using the E string and the tuner points to F being the note corresponding to your E-string as being in tune, then the intonation is off. Period. Or, the string is old and doesn't produce the proper tone. Or the neck can be warped.
