Why do you even have a dog? Its a living being not a law ornament you can throw outside. Why don't YOU live outside 24\7 in a tiny wooden house in the cold, snow and ice and have nothing to do all day but stare at a fence? Keep the poor dog indoors or surrender the dog so it can have a non lazy owner

If you are planning on leaving your dog outside in the snow it will need shelter and a house. Do you live where it is actually cold? Because if you live where it is cold then you aren't going to be leaving your dog outside for any amount of time. I live where there is snow 6 months of the year and the temperature drops to -40 and we aren't even taking into account the windchill. My dog has no house because she has short hair and stays in my house. My old dog had long hair and a mixed parentage of Akita and Newfoundland etc. She was always too hot in the house and spent most of her time outside in a good dog house with clean dry hay on the bottom.

If you build the dog house, it should be raised, well insulated,Mohave a wind and weather break and have enough room for the hay or straw besides the dog being able to move around and turn around inside the house. If you build the house too big, it will not keep the dog warm in the winter so it might as well not be there. In the winters with the -40 temps or up to -70 with wind chill, there isn't really any house that will keep a short haired dog really warm. Your dog will have to come in during the worst part of the winter. If you just keep the do out during the day etc, you still have to be careful of temperatures. As for warm weather, there shouldn't be much of a problem, it will keep the dog safe from t-storms and hail etc. it should keep the dog dry when it is raining. Not all dogs like their dog houses, just like not all dogs like their indoor kennels. As long as it is built well and waterproof inside your dog should be fairly well protected if he/she wants to get out of the elements. Goods luck
