What is a good game engine with solid network support?

Would you join a social gaming network if it were free and offered cool quality 3D game titles?

  • My company is building a social game network. We're hoping to offer  freemium game titles from the best developers as well as quality indie  developers. We're hoping that people can create gaming avatars, gaming  groups, setup tournaments, chat about games, challenge other players,  and play multiplayer games together. Games will be free but will display  relevant advertising from quality brands. What do you think? We could  sure use the support from future users so I am interested to here what  any of you have to say. We are pitching to investors to keep the  programmers and developers going, feel free to give us your two cents.  Many don't understand or want to invest in our company because they  don't understand the value we are giving to our users. Our goal is to  create the coolest social gaming network and to get millions of happy  users.     Two things wrong with this. Social networks and gaming. I do neither. I'm not on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr etc. Nor do I game. And when I do game, I don't wish to inform everyone I know that I'm gaming. Nor would I like to be on a network where everyone is telling me how much they scored in capturing the princess from the dragon. I'm guessing there is a non-insignificant population out there just like me. Most of rural Canada barely even has high speed connections currently. Also, your idea is nothing new. Game development, compatability, developer salaries, version control, cross compatability etc, It's all fairly expensive. This is why game development is not that common, because most developers fail. I wish you luck and success.
