Hello there, Of course you should ask to be certain. Most likely they did a set up on the guitar for you before they shipped it out. Not uncommon to remove the plastic coverings when doing a set up and getting the guitar ready to play. You take those off anyway when you get it ready to play. Later Norm

How much did you pay? If it was less than $1k, it's probably returned since most new Gibsons sell for at least $1100 with the exception of the LP Studio. I may be wrong here, but I'm quite sure I'm right.
