Does anyone know of a great place to buy bikes, and can anyone link a good bike?

  "Is target a good place?" Oh, PLEASE! I just had a late lunch. I don't feel like tossing my cookies everywhere. No - Target or any discount store is not a good place. Inferior bikes built with inferior components. They are slapped together in 15 minutes, or less, by a minimum wage "associate" or employee. You want a real bike that will last? You go see a real bike shop. If you needed a Grand Piano for a concert & Target sold pianos - would you buy one there? A real bike shop spends 45 minutes to an hour assembling & inspecting every bike before it's placed on the showroom. And they are built with better frames, better welds in the frame & better components. You do not simply buy a good bike. You make an "investment" in better health & a bike that will last a lifetime - taken care of properly. Just Google "Bicycle Shop" + your zip code. It'll bring them all up in your neighborhood. Bikes shops have a wide variety of bikes to fit anyone from 5' tall to 6' 6" tall. Discount store bikes come in one frame size only. Bike shops have FREE after the sale follow up service. Discount stores do not. Most likely, you'll find that the local bike shop has been around for years & years. How long has that discount store been there? Will it still be there in 5 - 10 - 15 years from now? Besides, once past about 2 to 3 weeks, that discount store bike is non-refundable - out of warranty. Yes, a bike shop will have higher priced bikes. Think I'm rich? Think again...I'm on a slim disability pension from the VA. I saved my $$$ until I could afford one that would last.
