How old do i have to be to adopt a 12 year old girl?

    You should be fine. One of my friends had a 7 year old sister and 11 year old brother in foster care and when she turned 18 she adopted them both. They are all really happy right now. So if this girl really needs you then I think you should do what you think is right.

22 is an odd age to adopt a 12 year old because almost no biological parents would have that closeness in age. You would have had to had a child at the age of ten. Anyway, for official ages, go to an adoption website and see what their requirements are. Your question raises all sorts of other questions - who is this 12 year old girl, why is she relying on you, where are her parents, how did you get into this sort of dependency relationship with her? But it's not really my place to ask that.

i dont know if your age has any bearing on it.. but i would think a 22yr old wouldnt have the means to take care of a 12 yr old but if you do.. then kudos to you.. I've actually thought about doing something like that.. im 27 but i have a 6 yr old daughter and im pregnant with my son so i have my hands ful right now lol as i am a single mother... but i would speak to an attorney to see what your options are.
