How long should I charge my iPod Touch 5th Generation?

• The manual says to charge it for 4hrs for a full charge but my iPod says 100% charged before 4hrs is up

  It really depends on the output of your devices charger port adapter , some offer a higher output which means they charge faster than others , the worst one taking roughly 5-6 hours , better ones take between 2-4 hours , however here's a tip , Never ever overcharge it , now I'm not saying that you can't charge it over night anywhere between 10-12 hours is fine but don't leave it hooked up all day and all night long , it will cause your battery to burst and leak , this means your phone might not work properly and you risk your phone exploding when mixing the battery chemicals with the phones components , now another tip . Never let your phone die , letting your phone die means you lose your phones life span , each life span ranges from 1,000 - 2,000 , now it seems like a lot but once you reach that limit your phone will never work again .
