Could dry wall nails be used to build an exterior rabbit hutch?

    Don't use them. Even painted over they will eventually rust and become brittle. Use exterior deck screws instead. It will only cost you a few more dollars and your structure will be far stronger and more long lasting. I am in the middle of rehabilitating a vintage motorhome where the previous owners used drywall screws to attach some of the aluminum skin to the wooden frame and I curse them every day for the way the screws rusted out -- many are impossible to extract with a screwdriver and must be painstakingly removed with needlenosed pliers. I am replacing them with treated deck screws with a square drive head.
