What is the strongest wire you can have on your braces?

What happens when you get a thicker wire on braces?

  • I have had braces now sine the end of February and since then have had them tightened once, the dentist said next time she would put a thicker wire on if my teeth had straightened out ...show more

  • Answer:

Ive had a thicker wire placed in my braces. It's just more stiff so it moves your teeth more, your teeth probably need more force and encouragement to straighten them. It feels like more pressure for a day or two and it may be slightly more sore, but it is definitely manageable, I did not use any painkillers. And the wire will definitely place your teeth where you want them to be! :)

I had a thicker wire on my bottom row for at least 6 months & just got it off a week ago & I honestly didn't even know that I had a thicker one on. it doesn't look any different, just puts more pressure on your teeth to "force" them to move to where they need to be & will need to stay.

They don't look any different, they just hurt a bit more and help to straighten your teeth faster
