Part time job searching: how to properly apply at a grocery store kiosk like target and publix?

  • Publix and Target has these, and I would like to go instore to apply to these things...Should I still ask to see the manager even though I know they have my application?

    Ok, the first thing you do is fill out the kiosk. Next you immediately ask for the manager and tell him or her your name. Tell them that you really want a job at Publix. If they tell you they are not hiring: DO NOT QUIT GOING! I almost quit until my mom told me to keep going back. Persistence pays off because even when they weren't hiring, they opened a position for me because they saw me really wanting to get a job. It would be kind of a joke just to put in an application and talk to the manager to only see that they're not hiring and that you don't come back at all. Also, dress nicely (nice pair of pant and tucked in button up t-shirt for guys; dress skirt and tucked in professional shirt for women). This is a ll part of getting the job and filling out the kiosk.I cannot stress enough that by talking to the manager, you will be recognized more and more by him that he can finally call you by your name and then interview you! I wish you all the luck in the world for your job hunt! :)

First figure out who the manager is. Stand at a distance and take a look at what they're doing. If they're surrounded by customers and look busy, get their name from somebody else (usually it's listed on a board or the front door) and call later ("May I speak to Brent Johnson if he's not too busy?") to let them know you filled out an app and would like to come in and talk about the job for a few minutes. You can even say "I saw you over in produce and you looked busy counting a shipment of peaches, so I didn't want to bother you." This will show that you pay attention to what other people do in the store and have the judgment and consideration not to take up their time when they're busy. Good luck.
