How can I get the cable signal in my room?

I have a Ethernet cable coming into my room connected to my xbox and I want to get a computer how can I use the one Ethernet cable for both?

  • And I want to use them both at the same time without the speed going down, And the Ethernet cable is connected to a router

  • Answer:

If you can connect another Ethernet cable to the router, then this will be the cheapest way of solving the problem. You do NOT want an Ethernet splitter. These do not allow you to share an Ethernet connection as such. Splitters are devices that are placed at each end of a single Ethernet cable (normally built in to a buildings structure) that allow two Ethernet connections at one end to share a single cable to the other end where they are split again into two separate Ethernet connections. Ethernet hubs are largely obsolete now as they have been superseded by the Ethernet Switch. Personally, I use the Netgear FS605 5-port switch. One port will connect to the cable coming into your room, and the other four ports are available for connecting devices such as your computer, your xbox, and any other devices you might have. The FS605 is totally plug and play and I bought mine for around $20 US. I hope this helps.

Sorry if I have understood your question wrong. Since you have a router already (which has 4 + 1 ports), you can just buy another ethernet cable to connect your computer to your router. It should solve right ? Once again sorry if i havent got your question correctly.

You could get a splitter. The speed won't go down just from being split as ethernet cables are very fast. The only case in which your speed will go down is if you have both devices performing bandwidth-consuming tasks.

Do not use any "splitter", those do not 'share" Ethernet signals properly. All you need is a cheap network switch. Plug your cable into that, and you then have another 4-5 ports available for devices in your room. If you want wifi, add on a wireless access point (WAP) to that switch.

you need to use TP_link or D_link 8 port this is best for Internet speed

Either a splitter ( cheapest, lowest performance ), a hub ( medium cost, medium performance ) or a switch ( best performance ).
