What did Donald sterling do that was wrong?

There is no doubt that Sterling is an old racist. However, his comments were taken out of context. He told his girlfriend to stop dragging the guys she was bedding to the basketball games. I predict that the league will try to take his team away and he will tie them up in lawsuits, and the very minorities who are the support personnel and the small businesses and the employees of the stadium will be the ones who suffer. Sterling may lose $500 million, but he will not suffer.

He made the working conditions HOSTILE for his Black, and Hispanic employees. His personal views aren't the key in how the NBA is coming down on him, the way his personal-views are affecting his business are. He can be fined, banned, and made to sell his team, not on the morality of it, but on the 'bottom-line', his behavior damaged the Clippers, and damaged the NBA, no company will just accept that.

Because he affected the NBA as a whole. You can't make racial remarks when your a public figure and a part of an association. You can't insult 98% of the players, coaches, staff, ect. Imagine if they didnt get rid of him. Players would refuse to play. Fans would boycott. Sponsors have already terminated their contracts and ultimately the NBA would lose money.
