What are some popular myths / urban legends about various foods?

  • Closely related to , but I'd like to know more myths about specific foods themselves, nutritional or otherwise, not just pertaining to cooking. touched on many, including that lard is healthier than you think, and that the spiciness of peppers etc. is not all in the seeds. I also seem to remember (this could be an urban legend in and of itself) that for a while, spinach was overpraised as a super-food due to a misplaced decimal point somewhere during USDA research.

I dont know if this a myth or reality, in my area in India, Yoghart and Lemon at same time are avoided, also Ghee with Yoghart is avoided. Also it is suggested as per some ancient texts that Salt products must be avoided with Milk as this may create ulcers. . Warm regards
