What are some strange sea creatures?

With new giant sea creatures washing up in California what is your scientific argument that mythical sea creatures don't exist?

  • I am not a idiot who believes in Mythical creatures however, I don't have a good idea about why they don't exist especially when these new giant creatures wash up on our coasts. Sure, it makes sense to think that it is true if we have the evidence and only if we have the evidence but then we still calculate the chances of Alien existence based on certain assumptions. Why not calculate the chance of the Bermuda triangle monster for example based on these new giants that had been found dead.

  • Answer:

There is no scientific argument that a mythical sea creature does not exist, provided it is not purported to have characteristics that violate established scientific laws ( e.g. The ability to travel faster than the speed of light). The only two components of science are theory and experiment (which are not at all independent of each other). If we don't have hard evidence that the creature was observed and its existence wouldn't contradict theories we've established and data that's already been collected, then the creature's existence cannot be refuted using science since it technically would be allowed for by experiment and theory. In some cases I imagine that we could use scientific data or observed patterns in evolution to argue that the existence of a particular creature is highly unlikely, but it takes more to argue that it can't exist.
