  • Answer:

Get some puppy pads that have a scent. I used Arm & Hammer puppy pads and had my puppy fully potty trained in just under a week (at 9 weeks old). Some brands have a target printed on them that could make it easier for the dog to position himself on. You can also get faux grass pads as well that you just wash out with a hose. They also sell a spray you can use to lure the dog to do its business. Start off with getting a pen for him to play in and fill the entire bottom with the pads. The next day, remove a few pads. Repeat the process for the next few days until there is just a couple of pads in the pen. A puppy will have to pee almost every hour, so if you catch him just as he starts preforming the act, just pick him up and move him to the pad. I would recommend crate training your dog too. This will also help speed up the training process and make for an easy transition to moving the bathroom outside: http://thehousebreakingbible.com/training/crate-training.htm (it has a nice chart with pee break times) Crate training is not inhumane, its for the safety of the dog and will give the dog a place to retreat to if he feels uncomfortable, especially with all the bar people. It will also give him a place to go to when traveling to different places. His crate is his own personal home. And when he gets bigger, you can turn that crate into a dog house and match it to your pub's decor.

You don't - the puppy can be taken outside to pee/poop as long as its on a leash and has no contact with other dogs out there. Be quick about it (take pup outside every 2-3 hours for awhile). Don't be training any puppy to pee inside on the stupid pads.

i would NOT recommend puppy pads, it just confuses the dog and it'll take longer to potty train him. your puppy will be fine as long as he has no contact with other dogs. take him out every 20-30 minutes, when he goes potty give him treats and praise him, every time he wakes up from a nap..take him outside..every time you finish playing with him..take her outside..sooner or later he'll understand what he has to do if you keep doing this. always keep an eye on him! sniffing the ground, moving in a circle, and crouching are signs that he needs to go. DON'T shout at him or hit him if she does her business inside just pick him up as soon as possible and take him outside. experienced with dogs and training my new 11 week old golden retriever mix right now. you could also use a leash that you can clip on your pants so that you can keep an eye on him at all times

Try rubbing a little of his pee onto the pee pad, it may attract him to pee on it. Once he is ready to go outside in the common area, simply bring the pee pad. However, he may get used to being inside and have to be re-trained to go outside again. If he has his first rounds of shots, it is okay for him to go outside, just avoid close contact with other dogs and keep outside just for pee/poops.

With my three month old pup i put his water and food bowl on the pad!!! He always pee's on it...try it out that way buuuuut every hour or so i take him outside on his leash and stand around for 15min to see if he has to poo then back inside...try to show your pup that that is not acceptable inside...good luck ❤

You will just have to wait it out. Encouraging him to go on puppy pads is just going to prolong the potty training when you can finally bring him outside. Get some ex-pens or baby gates to keep him in the rooms off the carpets.
