What's The Difference Between A BS and BA In Psychology?

  • I'm studying for my BS in Psychology but I've noticed other schools offer a BA instead. Is there actually any difference between the two? Any benefit from having one over ...show more

  • Answer:

Any major that is BS will mostly focuses on SCIENCE stuff such as Biology, Physics, and Chem... For instance, if my major is economics BS, I may have to take Physics, bio.... but if BA, I may have to take only one course of Science. In contrast, BA mostly focuses on "knowledge of Arts." Art is normally what you can "creatively" think and build it. BS also focuses mostly on Math too, but BA not really. U may be required to take a lot of Math if it is BS.

With a B.S. in Psych you will have to take more math and science courses. The B.A. requires less math and less science. B.S. degree in any subject require more math and science than a B.A. in any subject. B.S. degrees might have more requirements and might take longer to finish sometimes.

In most schools, a BSc means you'll have to take science and math courses along with psychology courses. A BA lets you have more electives and focuses more on social sciences and humanities along with psychology. As for benefits, it doesn't really matter since its just an undergraduate degree.
