The Queen is stoically unemotional & formal. Do you think she abhors the young royals who behave less formally?

Harry, William, Kate, Zara, etc. -- the young generation of British royals -- are much less formal and uptight than the Queen. The young royals have been photographed, filmed, and ...show more

Answer:
She realises that the monarchy has to respond to modern times. If Diana's demise showed anything, it was that the traditional stiff upper lip is rather a thing of the past. How we ever won a war with all the weeping and wailing that went on, I will never know. She referred to her own mother as Mummy, but was careful to avoid doing so in public - both Charles and his mother cringed a bit when he did it at the Golden Jubilee that its significance was not lost on the audience of the time, neither was the simple floral tribute from Harry to his mother on her cortège.

I think she understands that mentality of new generations changed and in order to keep monarchy alive the royals need to adapt a new easy way of communication.

I think by now, HM has adjusted to her younger relatives much as I also have no doubt Prince Harry received a good ticking off when he stepped over the line! She's not daft and although she obviously comes from the 'old school', she isn't incapable of moving with the times - within reason! I don't think she's beyond being embarrassed however. She looked decidedly uncomfortable at being called 'Mummy' by Prince Charles in public.

In Public, I think it's because she is an institution & the nation herself.

Personally, ...I get the feeling that the queen is quite warm blooded privately.....I think she has feelings. She has fallen in love many Times. I think she loves her dogs and I think she's quite sharp. She is ok with the pretend show of compassion the young royals are doing. They are trying to survive.

The Queen is unemotional and formal, probably only in public but in private she is probably as emotional as any other human being, and understands that times have moved on and does not abhor the less formal formal approach of the younger royals, her attitude probably is "Whatever it takes to make the monarchy popular"
IVOR
No, she does not abhor the younger generation. Elizabeth may wish that the younger royals be a little more careful, a little more formal, but she also knows that there is a need to be warm, easy to talk to, and emotionally aware.
