Who applies in car insurance, the owner or the driver?

What would be the best insurance group to go in, if I am a first time car owner/driver?

As said Parker's Guide will be very helpful in selecting a low insurance group car. It will also help with valuation when you are looking at cars to buy. Buy the book rather than do it online as it is much more convenient.

Any small car with an engine size 1litre-1.3 litre or small diesel engine is what you need to look for then before you buy get a quote on the web don't bother your self with insurance groups they don't mean that much any more

for car I would go with Focus...most dependable

Lower the group the cheaper. 5 is low, 4 is lower. Focus is a good car, but so is the polo. Punto is not so good. but cheaper to buy and probably insure. Look at parkers for insurance groups and use the online insurance quoters - compare sites - to get prices for car insurance.
