You can go into politics with any degree. You just have to be able to shmooze and have contacts. Bush has an MBA. But the most common route to break into government is a JD. As far as practical education, an MBA is more about entrepreneurship. Get a JD/MPA. An MPA will teach you a lot about public policy and you will be taking classes from people who are politicians or associate regularly with politicians if you go to a good school.
