How do I keep my ear from throbbing and getting infected (piercing) ?

    Do not play with it. In other words do not touch it! Or sleep on it. Change your pillow cover very very often. Wash with piercing solution if possible or regular antibacterial soap that is not flavored. Wash it 3xs a day. I repeat do not touch it!

Clean it every day three times a day. Work in the solution between your ear, the hole, and the earring. Handle your ear only with clean hands and try not to aggravate it too much by rubbing or grabbing your ear. Also try to sleep on your back, as every other position will be on your ear and that will not be good.

You should never remove the jewelry while you are letting an infection heal it could close the piercing, especially if you just got it pierced. Keep an earring in at all times. Clean it 2 times a day with sea salt, 8 oz warm water with 1/8 tsp sea salt or salt without iodine. Saturate a cotton ball in this and hold it on your ear, front and back, for 10 mins. After 6 - 8 weeks it should be healed.
