    TripAdvisor.com is my favorite. You can search by city, state, attraction, etc. I always check out this site when planning a vacation. Each city/state has a forum where people post and answer questions. There are also reviews on hotels. People also post photos from their trip on this site so you actually get a real idea of these hotels instead of the professional photos that are posted on hotel sites. This way you get a "real" idea of how things look. Check it out. You'll like it.

Santa Monica is beautiful, go see the boardwalk and the pier. Venice is nice, of course Beverly Hills & Rodeo if thats your cup of tea. Really depends on what your into, shopping, beaches, fine dining, art, music etc. LA appeals to all senses....
