  • Answer:

You deal with him as factually and unemotionally as possible. It sounds to me like he divulged his personal situation to you so that you wouldn't take his actions and behavior so personally. It sounds like you're either insecure about your own abilities and work product or you're a bit oversensitive. It is unrealistic to expect someone to change their behavior simply because you don't agree with it. Whenever that's the case, the other person has nothing at stake to lose and thus no reason to sustain the new behavior. I think you should focus on doing your best work and not so much on this other person and his behavior and judgments. His actions and words don't need to define you.

Don't run telling your boss. Have a sit down with her and discuss where the problem is.

A person like that, you need to just tell him to back off anytime he starts in on you. And the best time to do it is right when you get that feeling hes gonna start up. I had the same thing happen to me. i told the boss, and that did not work. im not saying to jump in his face and say you're gonna beat him up. Just tel him to stop, but in a stern way. You have to do it every time he starts. Dont yell tho, it may make it worse. it took me a couple days before he slowed down. And when he did, i started talking to him like he did me, and we were cool for the rest of the time we worked together.

Tell your boss. Tell him exactly what you have told us, Your boss should be able to warn him to lay off of you. He should stay put after that.
